Procter & Gamble India announced on Monday the appointment of Kumar Venkatasubramanian as its new chief executive officer, effective from May 1, 2024.
Venkatasubramanian, aged 48 and an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, began his journey with P&G in the sales team in India in 2000. With over two decades of experience, mostly in India across various roles in the sales function, he currently serves as the CEO of P&G’s business in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to his role in Australia, Venkatasubramanian led the sales team in P&G India until 2020.
Commenting on the appointment, Stanislav Vecera, P&G president for Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, expressed gratitude to LV Vaidyanathan for his remarkable leadership over nearly three decades with P&G. Vecera expressed confidence in Venkatasubramanian’s leadership, emphasizing his integral role in P&G India’s growth story and his familiarity with the organization.
P&G India comprises four separate entities, including two large listed companies—Gillette India and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care. Over the past decade, P&G has invested more than ₹8,200 crore in its Indian operations. Last year, it announced plans to invest ₹2,000 crore to establish a new personal healthcare manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
Venkatasubramanian acknowledged the momentum of the India organization, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus on the integrated growth strategy. He highlighted the goal to elevate performance across various aspects of the business, aiming for constructive disruption in the industry while leveraging the organization’s agility and accountability for sustained growth.
