Amid the Centre’s push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing, the Adani Group has unveiled plans for substantial investments in the sector over the next 10 years. Speaking at NDTV’s Defence Summit, Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence and Aerospace, emphasized the company’s commitment to aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘self-reliant India’. Rajvanshi highlighted the need for collective effort within the company to achieve this ambitious goal, noting the evolving economic landscape and India’s growing stature as the fifth largest economy globally.

Last month marked a significant milestone for the Adani Group as they inaugurated two expansive facilities dedicated to the manufacturing of ammunition and missiles. Situated on a sprawling 500-acre site in Kanpur, one of these facilities is poised to become one of the largest integrated ammunition manufacturing complexes in the region. The facility is geared towards producing top-notch small, medium, and large-calibre ammunition to cater to the needs of the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and the police, ensuring the supply of high-quality ammunition to bolster national security efforts.

During his address at the Summit, the Adani Defence CEO, Ashish Rajvanshi, praised the proactive measures implemented under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh over the past five years. Rajvanshi highlighted the positive outcomes resulting from these initiatives, emphasizing the strides made towards achieving self-reliance in the defence sector. He specifically commended the policy initiatives aimed at facilitating the participation of private defence industries and fostering an environment conducive to the growth of startups, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
