On Thursday, February 29, the Union Cabinet gave its nod to India’s inaugural semiconductor fab, marking a historic collaboration between the Tata Group and Powerchip Taiwan. Disclosed by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the cutting-edge facility, slated for construction in Dholera, is poised to achieve a production capacity of 50,000 wafers monthly.
The groundbreaking semiconductor fab in Dholera will witness a substantial net investment of ₹27,000 crore. Upon reaching its full capacity, the unit is projected to churn out a remarkable 48 million chips per day, underscoring its pivotal role in India’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.
