Maruti Suzuki Manesar Plant Ups Capacity to 900,000 Units/Year

Maruti Suzuki has bolstered its manufacturing capabilities at the Manesar plant with the installation of a new assembly line, capable of producing 100,000 units annually. This addition supplements the production of popular models such as the Ertiga, Brezza, XL6, Ciaz, and WagonR at the Manesar facility.

Furthermore, Maruti can leverage this additional assembly line for manufacturing collaborative projects with Toyota. The automotive giant aims to ramp up its overall manufacturing capacity to 4 million units per year within the next 7 to 8 years.

With three manufacturing plants in Manesar, Maruti has introduced a new assembly line at Plant-A, boasting a production capacity of 100,000 units per year. This augmentation elevates the Manesar plant’s total manufacturing capacity to 900,000 units annually.

Celebrating a recent milestone of producing 300 million units, Maruti highlights its contribution, with 95 lakh cars manufactured at the Manesar plant. The new assembly line, already operational, marked its debut with the rollout of the Maruti Ertiga.

The new assembly line at Maruti’s Manesar plant is expected to accommodate various models from its lineup, including the Ertiga, given its inaugural rollout. Additionally, the plant manufactures a range of vehicles such as the Ciaz, XL6, Celerio, Brezza, WagonR, Dzire, and S-Presso.

With the introduction of this assembly line, Maruti aims to increase its annual production capacity and potentially alleviate waiting periods, particularly for models experiencing high demand. Collaborative ventures with Toyota could further facilitate this goal, potentially addressing extended waiting times observed with shared products like the Toyota Rumion, where waiting periods currently stretch up to 15 months.

Maruti Suzuki currently boasts an overall production capacity of 2.35 million units annually. The automaker has ambitious plans to escalate its manufacturing capabilities to 4 million units per year within the next 7 to 8 years. This substantial expansion strategy underscores Maruti’s commitment to meeting growing demand and maintaining its prominent position in the automotive market.
