PayNearby, a pioneer in India’s branchless banking and digital network, has introduced the Digital Naari platform, aimed at fostering sustainable self-employment opportunities for women across the nation.
This initiative is tailored to offer additional income streams for women residing in rural and semi-urban areas, acknowledging their significant role as key contributors to the country’s development. Aligned with the government’s ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign, the platform aims to empower and onboard 100,000 women by 2025, thereby promoting their economic independence.
The objective is to support women entrepreneurs, single women, and those facing literacy challenges in securing sustainable livelihoods while bolstering their financial stability and fostering self-reliance.
Through the Digital Naari platform, empowered female agents, known as banker didis, can deliver a wide range of financial and digital services to the masses. These services, catering to rural women’s needs, include cash withdrawals, account openings, money transfers, mobile recharges, insurance and asset assurances, credit facilities, and eCommerce opportunities, thereby facilitating their journey towards financial literacy and autonomy.
The Digital Naari platform endeavors to expand its network through collaborations with organizations, self-help groups, and individuals committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods for rural women.
Anand Kumar Bajaj, Founder, MD, & CEO of PayNearby, expressed, “In the trajectory of a nation’s development, true progress is achieved when women are recognized as equal contributors. At PayNearby, we acknowledge women as the backbone of our nation’s GDP, possessing the potential to drive both social and economic transformation. It’s a privilege for us to participate in the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, dedicated to unlocking their potential and fostering a sustainable future. Through partnerships with various livelihood missions, including the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM), Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika), and Grameen Foundation India, our Digital Naari app is propelling countless women towards economic independence and societal recognition. We extend an open invitation to like-minded institutions and self-help groups to join us in maximizing the reach of this initiative and empowering women.
